Salvo Grima has enjoyed a presence in the tobacco industry in Libya for over 30 years. In 2015, our area of responsibility for BAT products was expanded to include the Libyan territory, which brought new challenges and opportunities to our operations.
Since then, Salvo Grima has developed a strong distribution network in Libya with direct access
to the wholesale market and an in-house trade marketing team to conduct research and trade
marketing activities. We believe to have built a structured, transparent and professional capability unique in difficult markets such as Libya, providing added value to our principals and stakeholders.
Our Libya platform has enabled us to launch new brands and at the same time ensure full adherence to local product regulations. Moreover, we have managed to establish a steady increase in market share in spite of the ongoing instability in the Libyan market.
Salvo Grima Group also represents the world’s leading match manufacturer, Swedish Match, in Malta and Libya. Swedish Match is a global company which develops, manufactures, and sells market-leading brands in the product segments snus and moist snuff, other tobacco
products, and lights. Production is located in seven countries, with sales concentrated in Scandinavia and the US. ‘Three Star’ and ‘Bryant & May’ are two of the most famous brands produced by Swedish Match.

Scandinavian Tobacco Group, founded in Denmark in 1961, is an industry-leading non-cigarette tobacco company that manufacturers a vast portfolio of well-known brands in the cigar, cigarillo, pipe and rolling tobacco markets. Among its top products are brands such as Café
Crème, Captain Black and Henri Wintermans. Rooted in innovation and brand building, STG is committed to constantly developing products and launch new designs and flavours for markets all over the world.
Rwanda & Central Africa
Salvo Grima Group recently expanded its distribution operations by investing in Rwanda, establishing a nation-wide distribution set-up selling directly to wholesalers and retailers across the country.
Rwanda is one of Africa’s fastest growing economies, with excellent business support services and a welleducated
workforce fluent in English and French. Our subsidiary, Salvo Grima Rwanda is based within the DP World Logistics Platform in Kigali and runs a network of ten logistics depots in collaboration with a professional local logistics partner, Anco Millena. Five depots can be found in Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali, and five others in Muhanga, Huye, Kayonza, Musanze, and Rusizi.
Through the representation of brands in the Fast Moving
Consumer Goods sector and Group-owned private labels, Salvo Grima Rwanda offers a range of consumer brands in the food, personal hygiene, and stationery product categories. Taking advantage of Rwanda’s geographical position, the company is also set up to reach surrounding markets in East and Central Africa.
During the past two years, Salvo Grima Rwanda has been appointed national distributor for a variety of international brands. We currently represent the French food giant – Danone, British American Tobacco, and the multination Swedish personal hygiene brand – Essity. To further establish ourselves
in Rwanda, in 2021, we opened a Salvo Grima outlet in the central business district of Kigali. This location acts as a showroom and trade centre for both international and our brands that we represent.
Djibouti & East Africa
A fully-owned subsidiary of Salvo Grima Group, SG International (Djibouti) FZE builds on the Group’s extensive networks and experience in the distribution of global consumer brands and the management of Duty-Free retail outlets in Europe and Africa.
Established in 2019, SG International (Djibouti) FZE, combines European infrastructure and logistics networks with Djibouti Free-Zone facilities in order to bring global brands to its growing client base in East Africa. Our products include tobacco and ancillary products, commodities, dry products and fast moving consumer goods, including personal care and household cleaning categories and duty-free wholesale supplies.
